The Brookhaven College Lady Bears volleyball team, who is ranked third in the National Junior College Athletic Association and first in the Metro Athletic Conference, beat the Cedar Valley Lady Suns Oct. 15.

The Lady Bears monopolized the court in Cedar Valley with matches ending in 30-16, 30-7 and 30-15.

"The ladies dominated the court," head coach Jason Hopkins said. "Although it was not the most difficult game we played, the ladies still used it as a learning experience."

Hopkins said he was amazed at how fast the ladies gelled this year. He is confident this year is an example of what can be done when everyone is on the same page and has the same goals. He said he remembered how rough this season started out and is proud that the ladies could overcome as much as they did.

Lynne Levesque, athletic director, said, "If the ladies continue to seek perfection when playing the game, they will definitely continue on to nationals again."

Before the Lady Bears can compete in nationals, they must first win at the conference level. Conference playoffs start at Brookhaven Nov. 3, where the Lady Bears have won three consecutive titles.

"The girls would love if the school would come out and support them when they compete for the conference title," Hopkins said. "We are hoping to green out the gym, but can only do this if our school and community will come out and support us while wearing their Brookhaven colors."

Hopkins said he sees this as a chance for the team to get excited about nationals and to see how much their community supports them. He said it will give the school and community a chance to see an exhibition of the women's talent one last time for the 2007 fall season.
