All these locations have a variety of costumes to choose from for both men and women. Although Condom Sense only sells costumes, the other stores on the list also sell makeup, accessories and decorations.
Some owners and managers of these stores gave their opinions on some of the trends they are seeing in their stores.
Pirate costumes are the most popular costumes for women this year, by a landslide. Men are keeping it simple by buying things like Hugh Hefner jackets, doctor scrubs or a simple mask. Michael Wimmer, owner of Halloween "Wanna Be" Costumes, said men, for the most part, are last-minute shoppers. He said they tend to visit the store the day of the party.
Wimmer said the witch and scarecrow costumes are among the most affordable.
Aside from costumes, he said some very popular items among college students are pimp cups. These are novelty, oversized cups in different colors, which are decorated with rhinestones; they have words such as PIMP or PRINCESS written across.
Linda Pinkston, manager of Spirit Halloween Superstore, said accessories and decorations are very popular as well.
"People just go all out for Halloween; it's amazing," Pinkston said.
She said people start buying most of their stuff about three weeks before the holiday, up until the day before.
For those looking to spend a little extra money and make a big impression at Halloween parties, costume rentals are great options. Costume World offers customers the opportunity to rent or purchase costumes.
D.J. Smith, manager of Costume World, said Marie Antoinette and sailor outfits are proving to be popular choices among women.
For men, he said Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Caribbean" as well as "Spider Man" are popular costumes this year. Smith said a more unique choice for men this season is the Spartan warrior's costume from the movie "300." These costumes are very popular in the rental category.
Smith suggested people get a makeup artist and a wig artist for rented costumes. People can start booking appointments now to get their hair and makeup done for the holiday. Prices range from $35-100 for the makeup application, depending on the service.
