Adrian Godinez plays the character of Tartuffe. Error said she chose Godinez for his comic timing and his perfect look for the role. His past-shoulder-length hair resembled John the Baptist, she said.
Tartuffe, however, is not the lead character of the production. Floyd Miller, a Brookhaven student, said he did not purposely audition for the lead role.
Miller plays the role of Orgon, the father who is tricked by Tartuffe into giving away his daughter, his wife and his wealth.
Miller said the role is difficult for him since he has so many lines to remember.
"Tartuffe" is an exaggerated comedy written by Moliére set in the time of Louis XIV. Godinez, for his role as Tartuffe, wears an enlarged and unrealistic rosary. Error said Tartuffe deceives Orgon into thinking he is pure and saintly throughout the play.
Error said Cleante, played by Roland Adcox, symbolizes the voice of reason. Cleante is the brother-in-law of Orgon and tries to talk some reason into Orgon as Tartuffe tries to weasel his way into the family.
Error said the play unfolds in an exaggerated and comedic way.
