The Lady Bears are now 12-18 in Division III, according to the NJCAA Web site. In the Metro Athletic Conference, they are 3-0 which include all of the schools of Dallas County Community College District.
Other than conference games, the additional games the Lady Bears play are at the discretion of head coach Jason Hopkins.
According to the Lady Bears schedule, they play within all three divisions, which includes universities and larger colleges.
As noted on the NJCAA Web site those schools have the ability to offer athletic scholarships and can recruit international players.
"I believe that going against the other divisions makes the ladies play at a high level," Hopkins said. "It also gives the girls a reason to constantly improve their skills."
Hopkins said players such as Danielle Sneed, business management sophomore who is ranked 8th in Division III for kills per game, put forth a tremendous effort on the court.
Commenting on the Eastfield game Sneed said, "We kept control of the game and that is what matters; this was not our best game but we still kept it crunk."
With the win under their belt, they are ready to take on other conference and division teams.
"The game was good," Holly Kieschnick, undecided freshman, said. "We thought they were going to win but we took it from them; however this was only one more win, there are still more games before we head to championships."
The Lady Bears' next home game is at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in T Building. For the entire Lady Bears schedule, students can check out the Brookhaven Web site.
