The event took place noon-2 p.m. in the Commons Courtyard.
The weekly program, hosted by Brookhaven student C.W. Simms, Michael Zavala and James Applegate, is a live iTunes podcast recorded every Friday at 8 p.m. in Red Oak, Texas.
"It's new; I've never seen this done on campus," Julio Rijos, undecided student, said. "It's nice to have music played on campus."
Giraud Polite, visual communications professor, and Ben Barnes, executive dean of information technology, sponsored the show.
Polite and a group of professors on campus are encouraging new forms of delivering media technology. Polite said he is working with iTunes University to have lectures on campus recorded and podcasted.
Polite brought the show to Brookhaven after reading a story about it in the Nov. 13, 2006, issue of the Brookhaven Courier. Simms spoke with Polite and worked out a date and time to record the show.
"It's a beautiful campus and I'm having fun," Applegate said, regarding his first visit to Brookhaven.
During the show, students could fill out their name, phone number and e-mail address to enter a contest for prizes. The prizes included a Chris Daughtry compact disc, an iTunes gift card worth $15, a "Talladega Nights" DVD and a backpack containing school supplies and a teddy bear.
The cast of "The Michael Zavala Show" discussed current events and interacted with students walking by and entering the contests. To listen to "The Michael Zavala Show" students can go to the Web site www.michaelzavala.com/show.
