Rootin' tootin' gunslingin' game shoots into the Wild West

Allowing players to seek revenge, collect bounties and take down the corrupt in the Wild Wild West is the best quality of the new video game "Gun."

Most of the games released are either boring sequels that are mostly the same as the original or a copycat game that has an identical formula, story and character design of a previously popular game, but none of the quality.

Then there is the worst kind, which is the rushed game. Developers rushed to get it out on the shelves and people either buy or rent the game. They then find out that it is either full of glitches, has a storyline with more holes than a doughnut shop or all of the really cool features that received so much buzz are now suspiciously absent.

Luckily, none of those problems plague the game "Gun." Players assume the role of Colton White, a gunslinging, horse riding, rootin' tootin' son of a gun! "Gun" takes place in various breathtaking locations from the deserts of New Mexico to the snowy mountains of Montana.

Like most typical action-adventure games, players can unlock skills, purchase and upgrade weapons and interact with their environment.

"Gun" has an engaging storyline that pulls one in from the beginning and has more twists and turns than a tumbleweed on a windy day. It was written by movie director Randall Jahnson ("The Doors" and "Mask of Zorro") with a story containing mystery, intrigue and great plot progression.

The cinematic cut scenes are gritty and stay true to the theme of lawlessness in the Old West. The voice talent in this game is excellent, with actors Kris Kristofferson, Ron Perlman, Tom Skerrit and Lance Henriksen.

A great part about "Gun" is the expansive free-roaming world. Players can travel on foot or mosey on over to a horse and complete any one of the many side missions available. This includes digging for gold in the mountains, playing poker, hunting for bounties, working for the Pony Express or taking out the bad guys.
