It takes a special meal from a family member, usually a mother or grandmother, to whet your appetite and soul. Homemade food, away from home, is the exact experience a person feels when dining at Ms. Mary's Southern Cuisine, located in a strip-shopping center at Interstate 35 and Frankford Road.

Mary Davis is the owner and chef. All meals are served with two sides of vegetables, baked macaroni and cheese, candied yams or mashed potatoes. All meals are accompanied with slightly sweet cornbread and rolls.

The daily lunch special costs $5.99 and varies during business days, but the lunch special is a specific delicious entrée dish chosen from the menu, such as pork chops, chicken breast, meat loaf or catfish. The regular prices range from $8.50 to $9.00.

The menu also offers sandwiches or burgers served with fries or one side. Barbeque selections such as ribs, brisket and sausage cost between $8.00 and $11.00 are only served on Friday and Saturday. Refills of standard soda drinks are unlimited.
